Xiaomi stops with the name ‘Mi’
Interesting news from the corner of Xiaomi this morning. The manufacturer has announced that it will stop adding the name ‘Mi’ to its products. First of all, smartphones have to ‘pay for it’.
Xiaomi stops Mi
Xiaomi has made huge strides in recent years. Partly due to the disappearance of Huawei as a formidable competitor, the company managed to score well with many products. Not only with smartphones and wearables, but also with smart devices. Many products were given the name Mi, including smartphones, but Xiaomi is going to stop with that.
For about ten years, Xiaomi has been using the model name ‘Mi’. It is as familiar to many as Samsung with Galaxy and Apple with the iPhone. According to the company, it is no longer appropriate within the company to use the name Mi, and it will be stopped immediately. The abbreviation ‘Mi’ stood for ‘Mission Impossible’ and ‘Mobile Internet’.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite
The future will be interesting. For the time being, the sub-brands Poco and Redmi will continue to exist, but it is unknown what will happen to them in the long term. Furthermore, it is unknown what will happen to the name MIUI, the name of the proprietary MI User Interface and what will happen to Xiaomi’s Mi-based logo. Xiaomi has an announcement planned for September 15, and we may hear more about the company’s plans.
This makes the Xiaomi Mix 4 the first smartphone without Mi branding. Other devices that will be released in the near future will be the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi Band 7 and the Xiaomi TV.
