Xiaomi has the surprisingly competitively priced Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier and in this review we take a look at this device. Xiaomi Netherlands has made a copy available for Apparata. You too can eventually get such a copy. Think of international web shops such as Amazon, which simply ship the device to our country.
The Xioami Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier costs about 60 euros and is a compact humidifier. The device can be placed on a cabinet or desk and is easy to move. On top of the device is a removable lid to fill the 4.5 liter tank with water. The advantage of this is that you don’t have to carry this device to the tap to fill it, which is nice.

The Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier is compatible with Xiaomi’s home app. This allows you to fully operate the device with your smartphone. It is possible to set different programs. You can also program a timer. In addition, thanks to the humidity meter, you can immediately see whether the space is indeed between that 40 and 60 percent. You can switch on the device directly, but also set a preferred value. For example, that you want to maintain 60 percent humidity.
The device itself has a modern design and is white in color. Contagious white, so do not touch the machine with dirty hands. You will soon see spots. The round shape is matte white, while the lid is glossy. The latter looks a bit cheap and could have been better matted. Another major drawback is the short plug. You have to place the Xiaomi Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier really thick at the socket, we discovered with this review. Or you have to connect a power strip to it, then you have more freedom. The device has the shape of a cylinder and is 33.6 centimeters high and 20.7 cm wide.
If you fill the tank to the maximum capacity of 4.5 liters, the device can do its job for up to 16 hours. Then you have to refill the device. In practice, this lasts quite a long time. Because if you switch on the machine, a room can already achieve the achieved value of 50 or 60 percent in a few minutes. But that of course depends on the space and how hard the device has to do its best.
You can also place the machine in the bedroom for a better night’s sleep. My advice is not to put the thing right next to you on the bedside table. Despite the fact that the Humidifier is very quiet at less than 38 decibels, it can still be distracting. Moreover, it is not pleasant to have the fog vapor so close to you.
Besides the fact that this device improves the humidity in your room, it also fights bacteria. Xiaomi’s promise is that the ultraviolet lamp kills up to 98.8% of all bacteria in the environment of the machine. We have to believe the company on these words, we have not been able to check that ourselves.
Furthermore, it is good to know that the app is in English, because Xiaomi does not officially deliver this product in the Netherlands. The Xiaomi Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier is compatible with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, in this review I did not get that working myself. But maybe that’s just me ;).
Conclusion
Xiaomi has many more products than just this Humidifier. However, this is a nice entry-level device with an attractive price, without immediately investing hundreds of euros in a device that is perhaps much too large. I find the Xiaomi Mi Smart Antibacterial Humidifier very easy to use in combination with the app and the device does a good job. Considering the price of 60 euros, highly recommended and if you can fix a discount somewhere, you have a useful device at home or at the office for a few tens that you can use in several rooms.
