Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra has bizarre second screen and 120x zoom

A Thai Youtuber was able to acquire two copies of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra early. The phone comes with a camera with 120x zoom, but it is mainly the special second screen that draws the attention.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Xiaomi recently launched its Mi 11 flagship chip worldwide, and in the Netherlands, the phone can be purchased for 849 euros. For now we are still waiting for the Lite variant of the phone, and of course there is also a Mi 11 Pro on the way. The Thai Youtuber Tech Buff PH attracted the whole world because he already got hold of two copies of the Ultra version.

Nothing was known about that phone yet. If a hands-on video of a Google smartphone shows up early on, hardly anyone will crow about it, but such a big leak for the launch of a Xiaomi flagship is not common. Certainly not if nothing was known about that phone before. Xiaomi previously launched an Ultra variant of the Mi 10, and the phone has even more premium features than the Pro version. The device has only appeared on the market in China.

As if it wasn’t strong enough for the Youtuber to get hold of the phones, the Mi 11 Ultra itself also comes with a big surprise. Yes, you can see it right: the phone has a small, second screen on the back next to the camera setup. We don’t know about the specifications of the panel, but it seems that you can just open all apps. Although we can hardly imagine why you would want to do that on the mini screen. It seems that this screen is primarily for taking selfies with the flagship’s main camera.

Is this really the Mi 11 Ultra?

Now you are probably wondering: “That sounds bizarre, is it the real Mi 11 Ultra?” Unfortunately, we can confirm that, but the images we see are convincing. We get to see the device from all sides, and the design and various features seem to correspond well with what we saw earlier with the other variants. Although they are probably prototypes, because the text next to the cameras of both phones differs. On the white phone we read: ‘120X Ultra Pixel AI Camera’, while the black one shows ‘120X, 12-120mm, 1: 1.95-4.1’.

QHD screen and 67 watt fast charger

In the video, the Youtuber talks further about some of the specifications, confirming the information from previous rumors. Like the Mi 11, the Ultra version also gets a large 6.81 inch AMOLED screen with a high QHD resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The panel also has a camera notch in the left corner and curved edges. The Mi 11 Ultra can also count on Gorilla Glass Victus protection against scratches and fall damage. The Snapdragon 888 is as expected the motor of this device, there are dual speakers from Harman Kardon, and the case is IP68 water resistant.

The large 5000 mAh battery, which recently surfaced in rumors about the Mi 11 Pro, is also present with this and more is also known about the phone’s fast charger. The Mi 11 Ultra charges even faster compared to the Mi 11, which has a 55-watt charger. It has a power of 67 watts and can also charge wirelessly with the same power.

120x zoom and MIUI 12.5

Furthermore, we discover that the top model gets a 50 MP main camera, followed by a 48 MP wide-angle camera and finally a 48 MP periscope camera. We don’t know if Xiaomi is introducing improvements for periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. Samsung previously released a 10x optical zoom on its Galaxy S21 Ultra. What we do know is that Xiaomi’s cameras are good for 120x digital zoom, and that was also apparent from rumors of the Mi 11 Pro.

We also see the Mi 11 Ultra including the upcoming MIUI 12.5 software, which is an update to the software shell that is only scheduled for the next quarter. Presumably it is an early version that runs on the prototypes. According to previous rumors, the Mi 11 Pro would be unveiled in February, but nothing is known about that yet.

What is certain is that the flow of rumors about this device will accelerate after this major leak. The original video of this leak has since been taken offline again, but not before another Youtuber could take it over. You can watch that video below. What do you think of the Mi 11 Ultra? Is he something for you or does the regular Mi 11 appeal to you more? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of this article.
