Woman expresses dissatisfaction with parents who change baby’s dirty diaper on airplane table

“Am I an asshole for asking a couple to stop changing their baby’s diaper in the middle of the plane?” asks a woman on the Reddit news platform. During an hour-long flight, she was behind a couple with a baby. Because flying makes the woman feel sick easily, she tried to get some sleep. That was not possible because of the crying baby, but she fully understood that.
Changing on airplane table
The woman was less happy with the child’s parents, who decided to change an ‘extremely smelly’ diaper. Not in the toilet, but in the middle of the plane. “They used the airplane table as a changing table,” the woman writes. Indeed, the table on which your meal is normally served. “We were in the back of the plane, near the toilets. I knew there was a changing table because after smelling the diaper I had to throw up in the toilet.”

Crying mother
Despite the unpleasant surprise, the woman decided to keep her mouth shut. Until the parents reached for a clean diaper again a few hours later. “I asked if they could please go to the bathroom instead of exposing everyone on the plane to the smell,” the traveler continues. “The mother started yelling at me and said I had no idea how stressful it is traveling with a baby, which is true – I don’t have kids.” She informed a flight attendant, who agreed that diapers should only be changed in the toilet. A few minutes later, the pilot called out the same message. “The parents looked very annoyed.”
Only coincidence
Many people agree with the woman: children should be changed in the airplane toilets. Point. “It’s a good thing that the plane is cleaned between flights. The idea that you have to eat or drink from a table that has been used as a changing table makes me gag.” Another writes: “Baby diapers smell more than other diapers. Exposing people in an enclosed space at a height of several kilometers to that smell is simply criminal.”
