The rogulelike genre is one of the most popular. And Wizard Legend adds simplifications to help you play on your phone’s screen.
As in other titles in this genre, you go through levels full of enemies. You get more and more improvements regularly, and once you lose all your lives, you have to go back to the beginning. But you can carry a little with you. In Wizard Legend, you play as a man. You can’t do two things at once. By that I mean walking and shooting. Because when you walk, you don’t shoot. And when you shoot, you understand.
The control is therefore very simple. Drag your finger across the screen to control the hero who walks like that. And when you lift your finger, it automatically starts attacking the nearest enemy. This can be trivial, but finding the right balance between static attack, finding the right place, and dodging projectiles is not easy at all. Of course, with increasing levels, the obstacles get harder and harder.
The book of spells helps you with this, where you regularly write down improvements and new gadgets. In this respect, the title is reminiscent of, for example, the insurmountable king of the Hades genre. The game will offer you three random improvements. You choose one of them. When you choose a spell you already have, it improves instead. I definitely recommend this, as the number of slots in the book is limited. In addition to spells, after defeating bosses and elite enemies, you also gain artifacts, which usually give you passive abilities and increase attack. Here, too, you have a choice. 
I was very pleased that a different selection of spells results in a completely different gaming experience. Sometimes you feel like a wizard with an automatic stick throwing fireballs in quick succession, other times you slowly dance between enemies and activate crystals with devastating effects. And the very principle of “I’ll try the next game differently” works brilliantly here.
Depending on your success in one run, you will receive premium crystals for which you can buy and improve your tires. These improve basic statistics such as shield, lives or attack power. Thanks to them, you will get a little further again in the next attempt. The game is free and, except for occasional advertising, it does not bother you with any energy system. At least it’s worth a try. And I found a new favorite to play on the tram.
