Dropbox login doesn’t work: four solutions
For many people, Dropbox is very important. They have stored their study materials, work documents and other things in it. That’s easy, because then the files are always available on different devices.
All the time? Not necessarily. When there are problems logging into Dropbox, things get pretty annoying. Do you ever have issues logging into Dropbox? Check these four solutions, then you can certainly quickly access your files again.
1. Log in to Dropbox on the computer: easy with linking
Sometimes you just can’t sign in to Dropbox on your computer. A simple solution to this is to connect Dropbox from your iPhone or iPad. You can then give the computer access from your phone or tablet, without having to enter the password yourself. This is how you do this on your iPhone or iPad.
Link a computer with Dropbox from your iPhone or iPad
- Open the Dropbox app and tap ‘Account’;
- Go to ‘Link a computer’ and tap ‘Yes, continue’;
- On the computer, surf to the website shown and tap ‘Next’;
- Scan the qr code with your iPhone camera and install the Dropbox software on your computer;
- The Dropbox website will automatically open in the website (of course you can also use the just installed app).
2. Your Dropbox password has expired
From time to time, Dropbox makes certain passwords useless because they are vulnerable to hackers. If this happens to you, you will receive an email informing you of this. This email may end up in your spam folder, making it seem as if you suddenly no longer have access to your Dropbox account.
Then the next time you go to the Dropbox website and log in there, a new window will appear. Enter the email address associated with your account here. Dropbox will then send you a temporary password, which you change immediately after logging in.
Of course you can always surf to the website and click on ‘Forgot your password?’. You only need to enter your e-mail address and you will receive an e-mail with instructions to reset your password. Also make sure that the message does not end up in your spam folder.
If you’re using the web version of Dropbox, your browser’s cookies and cache can sometimes cause the service to run into problems while logging in. Firefox users in particular seem to be bothered by this, although it can also play a role in other browsers. Clearing your cache works differently with every browser, but you can usually find this option under the ‘Privacy and Security’ heading in the settings.
4. Reinstall the Dropbox app
Is the login problem specific to the iOS app and have you already tried the above steps? Then it may help to uninstall and reinstall the app. This way you start with a clean slate and you can also log in again.
If you still don’t succeed in accessing your Dropbox account, check the All Disruptions website to see if there are no problems with DropBox. Are there no issues there? Then we recommend that you contact Dropbox’s support department or wait a while.
