Witchfire – -apkrig
“Armed with strange weapons and forbidden pagan magic, go hunting for the powerful witch who holds the key to your salvation. Witchfire is a dark fantasy roguelite shooter from the creators of Painkiller, Bulletstorm and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. “
This is how the developers from the nine-member studio The Astronauts now describe the game Witchfire. A game that we have known about since the end of 2017 and which has been in the distance so far. Updates, which used to come week after week, suddenly thinned out and we had to wait more than half a year for the latest one.
But it paid off. Finally, for the first time ever, the creators specify the release date of the attractive-looking shooter, which falls on the last quarter of this year. But beware, this will only be pre-access available only on computers. We do not learn anything new about the release of the full game and the possibility of other platforms.
At the same time, we do not expect new news with a previous cadence to start appearing immediately. The creators in the blog explain how they originally wanted us players to witness their every move in the same way – as they say – as was the case with Kingdom Come. But their game is full of secrets and they would reveal too much at this point.
At the same time, their updates confused the readers. There are pictures and shots of them (like the ones around) that look great, but come from a very early prototype, and none of this may appear in the final game. But readers took them for granted.
Although there is no big news waiting for us now, the current update has brought a few crumbs further specifying what Witchfire will actually be about. From the new description of the game at the beginning of the article, we learn that it will be a roguelite game, so you will often die and repeat a botched shootout, with the proviso that you take something from each run.
The creators devote a large part of the text to explaining the difference between roguelike and roguelite, and their game is said to retain so many elements within the dying wheel and other attempts that the word roguelite is perhaps superfluous. But for now, they leave him in a paragraph describing the basic idea.
There is also a paragraph revealing a bit about the game, which we should learn more about in the following update, which will hopefully arrive in the summer:
“The church officially forbids experimenting with witchfire, or ‘devil’s breath.’ There is only one exception to this rule. Convicted prisoners who have committed unforgivable sins in their lives have a choice: They will either die and go to hell, or they will become preyers and live forever in this earthly valley of tears and hunt witches to replenish their magic fire to keep them alive. “
In the next block, the developers answer questions from fans, which show, for example, that we do not have to worry about the creators jumping on the current NFT trend. A system of clues from the souls is being considered, there is no cooperation plan yet, you will have your own base in the game, where you will choose the equipment for the next trip to the dangerous surroundings and last but not least you can look forward to working with four elements. your enemies or with the help of the earth element you let them disintegrate.
With a little luck, we will find out how it all works by the end of this year in the preliminary Witchfire approach.
