However, the report on three major updates for this model is not official either, it comes from the Indian leakster Yogesh Brar. However, given that Xiaomi has implemented this policy for the 11T series, it can be expected that this policy will later be transferred to other Xiaomi devices (we do not yet know if the Redmi model update policy will improve).

Competition

Xiaomi does not want to lag behind the competition, such as Samsung, which offers three system updates and 4 years of security updates for mid-range models. Therefore, it has obviously decided on the mentioned step, but it will also be important to monitor the intervals of the mentioned updates (monthly or quarterly?).

OnePlus decided to take a similar step as Xiaomi. He promised flagships three major updates and 4 years of security patches. For Nord Series devices, there will also be three major updates, but the number of years with security patches is questionable – probably three or four.
