Wietze de Jager and Klaas van Eerden quit 538 morning show
Radio DJs Wietze de Jager and Klaas van Eerden will stop the morning show on Radio 538 after the summer. The two have decided this ‘in good consultation’ with the radio station. Wietze, father of three children (and a fourth on the way), wants more balance between work and family.
Wietze de Jager says that making a daily radio program ‘and everything that comes with it’ requires a lot of attention. “Constantly finding the right balance with family life is something I have often shared with the listeners,” says the radio DJ. “This was the reason for Radio 538 to start a conversation. Together with the channel, we came to the conclusion that I simply cannot yet oversee the long-term commitment to a morning show in this phase of my family.”

Balance with family life
Klaas van Eerden finds it ‘incredibly unfortunate’ to stop the morning show after the summer. “But I respect the choice and understand Wietze’s private situation,” said the radio DJ. It is not yet clear what the two will do next. “In the coming period I will first think carefully about what the future inside or outside 538 has in store for me,” says Klaas. Wietze hopes to find a different place within the programming of Radio 538, ‘with a better balance between making radio and family’. The duo could be heard in the morning show since January 2022, before that they made the Friday evening show together. After the summer, the morning show will be presented by Tim Klijn, Rick Romijn and Niels van Baarlen. They now work at Radio Veronica.
