WhatsApp Web and Desktop from now on without using a phone

After a long time of testing and beta versions, the time has now come for WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop to receive a major improvement. You no longer need to have your phone online to use the desktop or web version.

WhatsApp without phone

WhatsApp is rolling out multi-device support to everyone. To use WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop, it is no longer necessary to keep your phone connected to the internet. It is an important new feature, because from now on you can continue to send messages to others via WhatsApp, even if your smartphone battery is empty, has no network or is turned off. The feature has already been beta tested in recent months.

With the Multi-Device Support feature, users can access WhatsApp on up to four other devices. This can be, for example, a laptop or desktop that uses WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop. This cannot be any other phone, except your own smartphone to which the WhatsApp account is linked. If the phone on which this account is set up is not used for 14 days, the link will be broken after those two weeks. In that case, the account must be relinked to the web or desktop version.

How does it work?

You can easily link your phone to your account. To do this, go to web.whatsapp.com or download WhatsApp Desktop. When starting the application, you will be prompted to scan a QR code. For this you use the special QR scanner in WhatsApp itself. You can find this in the app at the top of the three dots. You then choose ‘Paired devices’ and can add a new device.
