What will happen to all those old Netflix series?

The Marvel series are in limbo, because they are disappearing from Netflix and cannot be seen immediately on Disney+. These are the latest developments.

Special developments with the remaining Marvel series on Netflix. As you may know, Disney owns all rights to Marvel. That means competitor Netflix will have to say goodbye to everything from Marvel once the contracts are up. You expect that then everything from Marvel will be shown on Disney+. So the latter is not the case.

Soon, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, and The Defenders will disappear. It was expected that these series would be moved to Disney+. At the moment, however, there is no communication from Disney or from Netflix that this will happen. The series threatens to go into limbo for some time.

At Gizmodo, they see multiple scenarios as to why this would be. It could have to do with a rights issue for example. That Netflix has indicated that the series would not just be shown on Disney + the next week. Another scenario is that Disney itself doesn’t say anything about it and quietly adds the shows to the library in March. The fact remains that much is still unclear. In any case, there’s a good chance you won’t be able to watch Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher and The Defenders for a while when they’re gone from Netflix.
