New WhatsApp Terms of Use from May 15th
It’s not Facebook’s first attempt at that enforce new terms of use in WhatsApp. At the beginning of the year, WhatsApp informed its users that new terms of use will apply from February 8, 2021, to which everyone must agree, otherwise you can no longer use the messenger. WhatsApp wanted permission to exchange data with the parent company Facebook. This caused a huge outcry, so that WhatsApp ultimately backed down and the timing was changed. Til today, on May 15, 2021, you should now agree to the new terms of use, Otherwise you can basically no longer use WhatsApp – Facebook had actually said. Now the company is backing down again.
You can continue to use WhatsApp – without restrictions
Recently it was said in the German FAQ nor that the full functionality will no longer be available if you do not agree to the new terms of use. You can still receive calls and notifications for a short time, but you can no longer send or read messages. But that no longer applies. If you do not agree to WhatsApp’s terms of use, nothing will happen to you. You can continue to use WhatsApp as it has been the case before. So those who stubbornly ignored the request to agree to the new terms of use will be rewarded. WhatsApp now has exactly this addition in the German FAQ:
WhatsApp will continue to show reminders
Even if from today there will be no negative effects for WhatsApp users who have not agreed to the new terms of use, will WhatsApp will of course continue to display the notifications. So the last word does not have to be spoken here. It is quite possible that you can come up with other tricks to get users’ approval.
