what features are new?
The first beta of iOS 15.5 is out – a little over a month after the release of iOS 15.4. iPadOS 15.5 beta 1 is also out. The updates aren’t as big as last time, but we’ve spotted these new features!

iOS 15.5 beta 1: first step towards iOS 16?
After an update to iOS 15 with many new features, we don’t expect this fifth update (and only the first beta) to bring spectacular changes to the iPhone and iPad. Last month, with iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4, we saw, among other things, Face ID with mouth cap, new emojis and Universal controls.
It is very likely that iOS 15.5 could be the last major update for this software version. We believe that Apple will unveil iOS 16 at WWDC in June 2022. So, what’s new in iOS 15.5 beta 1?
The New Features of iOS 15.5 (and iPadOS 15.5)
We’ve checked out for you which features have already been spotted with the new software version of iOS 15. First, a source code has been found for a separate app for classical music. This genre will have its own icon and will therefore no longer fall under Apple Music. We’ve been anticipating the launch of this app for a while. Apple took over the classical music service Primephonic six months ago.
In addition, ‘Request’ and ‘Send’ buttons have been found in the Apple Pay Cash section to manage money even more easily. Also, Apple is making improvements to Apple TV+ related to the recently launched support for baseball games. Unfortunately, these two features are only coming to the United States for now. iOS 15.5 beta 1 has been rolled out for developers and testers.
Universal Controls and iTunes Pass
Anyone who uses Universal Controls, the major update of macOS 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4, should pay attention when installing iPadOS 15.5 beta 1. The new software update ensures that devices can no longer pair with devices that still run on iPadOS 15.4 or macOS 12.3. Apple’s fix: You need to update your Universal Controls devices to the new betas.
