Telegram 9.2 released

When Telegram rolls out an update, it’s usually a major update packed with new features. We are now also seeing this with the arrival of Telegram 9.2. The new update contains a series of new useful additions for the users. New is, for example, that you can use the chat app without a SIM card. If you don’t want to link your phone number, you can buy an anonymous phone number through the Fragment blockchain network and use it for your Telegram account.

Another improvement relates to groups, and in particular the topics. These so-called topics are now also available in groups with more than 100 members. Thanks to the new interface, managing topics should also be made easier, with the use of pinned messages and colors.

Since 2013 you can already use the destruction timer in Telegram. Messages are then automatically deleted after the set time. As of now, you can set a global auto-delete timer in Telegram 9.2. This allows all messages shared in any conversation in the future to be automatically deleted after a while. This can also be set up for small private groups.

Telegram 9.2 storage

Telegram has also been working on a more aggressive anti-spam filter. Group owners with groups of more than 200 members can also activate them immediately for their group. Furthermore, you can share a temporary QR code to share their Telegram account, without the phone number being made public. There’s a new Storage Usage page in the Android app, which is now more similar to iOS. On iOS, Telegram is getting a search feature for searching emojis.
