‘Two Foldable Pixel phones in the making, we already know this’

Google is working on not one, but two foldable Pixel devices. They are codenamed ‘Passport’ and ‘Jumbojack’. At first Jumbojack seemed to be a device for internal testing, but Google refers to it itself with the name ‘Pixel’.

Foldable Pixels

We expect the launch of the Google Pixel 6 devices next month and that is why a lot of information is coming out about Google’s flagships. You would almost forget that there are also regular rumors about foldable Pixel smartphones. We very consciously say “smartphones” in plural.

Earlier we wrote about a foldable Pixel codenamed ‘Passport’, but at Google there is another foldable in circulation. 9To5Google was able to access documents referring to a phone codenamed “Jumbojack.” The device would currently be used to develop software functions specifically intended for foldable phones. Think of the way the interface reacts when the screen is flipped open, closed or when it is half open.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

So it may seem to be nothing more than a test device with which Google adapts Android 12 for foldable devices, but there is more to it. Google itself refers to the foldable as being a “Pixel phone.” In addition, Google is developing special features with Jumbojack for foldable devices that will not yet be part of Android 12.

When are they coming?

But what exactly will Passport and Jumbojack look like, and when can we expect them? Previously, a Google patent has surfaced for a folding phone in Clamshell format, or a smartphone that is reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 from Samsung. According to earlier leaked information from 2020, Passport is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2021. What do you think? does Google have any surprises in store? Let us know what you think in the comments at the bottom of this article.
