Twitter will release 1.5 billion unused accounts and just as many handles
Elon Musk announces that Twitter will soon release 1.5 billion nicknames which are attached to unused accounts. This will be interesting for anyone looking for a particular nickname.
It happens that Twitter accounts created several years ago are no longer used and obviously have a specific nickname. You may be interested in this nickname, but you cannot claim it because the social network does not clean up. That’s just going to change.
It is througha tweet that Elon Musk announces the upcoming release of 1.5 billion accounts and just as many nicknames. However, he does not give a specific date. “These are obvious account deletions, with no tweets or logins in years”he adds in another tweet.

However, one element remains to be taken into account: what will happen to the accounts of deceased persons? You should know that the former management of Twitter already had this project to release unused accounts. It was then a question of removing accounts that did not have a connection during the last six months. But the social network finally put the idea aside following the remarks of several people evoking the deceased people. Here, Elon Musk does not seem concerned by this element and therefore intends to make room.
