When you have bought the new iPhone 14 Pro (Max), you will receive an iPhone with the Dynamic Island. This replacement for the notch shows a lot of animations and you can quickly find it annoying. iPhoned tells you how to (temporarily) turn off the animations.

iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island: Turn off notifications and animations

In early September of this year, we were quite taken aback by Apple when they showed the ‘Dynamic Island’ on the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This pill-shaped cutout at the top of the screen is the reason to buy an iPhone 14 Pro (Max). Or not…?

The pixels around the Dynamic Island merge into one pill-shaped area. You then basically get a notification center at the top of your screen. But what if you find the notifications or animations of the Dynamic Island disturbing, can you turn them off?

‘The pill’ on iPhone 14 Pro can’t be turned off yet

Unfortunately, you cannot disable Dynamic Island at the moment. It is intertwined with the software of iOS 16. We hope that Apple makes this possible in the future.

It would be a shame if you can’t turn off the notifications from Dynamic Island in the future. Some people are not a fan of a moving black bar in the image and will therefore not buy the iPhone 14 Pro.

You can, however, ignore all messages that this island gives. You do that by swiping them left or right. You can also swipe away some animations. For example, you can quickly swipe the Dynamic Island while playing a song on Apple Music. The equalizer will then (temporarily) disappear from the bar.

It is not the case that your iPhone 14 Pro (Max) suddenly thinks that you no longer want to use that app. The background activities will continue as usual. This way, your music from Apple Music will continue to play and a set timer will not go off either. When you remove all activity in the Dynamic Island, you get the standard black bar again.
