Tineco Floor One S5 Pro – design and functionality
The scope of delivery of the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro does not differ too much from that of other vacuum wipers. Therefore, the content is quickly summarized. In addition to the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro itself, which comes already equipped with a filter and a brush, we also have a spare brush and a spare filter, each of which comes with its own stand attachment, which you can dock onto the charging station if you want. By the way, the filter can be washed out, so you don’t have to buy a new one afterwards.
A cleaning brush is also included. With this you can not only clean, but also cut off hair caught on the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro. That was never really necessary in the months I’ve been using it. For this you will find a very small hidden blade on the handle, which can be opened and closed.
In addition to getting the loading dock, which we will also go into in the next section, you get Tineco’s own cleaning solution. Incidentally, the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro is not dependent on this. Here you can use your own everyday household solutions. It does not damage the device. It is only important to add the ratio specified on the packaging.
The Tineco Floor One S5 Pro itself consists mainly of plastic with a color combination of black and white. It is of high quality and robustly built and will survive one or the other fall. It is very nice that it stands independently, without a stand. This makes it much easier to use, since you can quickly park it anywhere. That has to be, because you can’t just put it across the floor because of the water tank. Fortunately, all vacuum wipers currently have the same function. Only with the Roborock Dyad was it a bit more cumbersome with the stand.
The brush itself is easily accessible and can be removed quickly and the rollers allow good mobility within reasonable limits, since you should of course only move back and forth slightly offset in order to clean the floor correctly. It is nice that the edge cleaning has been optimized. The side that has no cover (as you can see in the pictures) is used for this.
We only have one button on the back for resetting the WLAN connection and three on the handle. With this you can switch the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro on and off, switch between modes and, when the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro is on the charging station, start the self-cleaning of the brush.
My biggest criticism of the Tineco Floor One S3 was that the water or dirty water tank was too small, so that after just a few minutes the vacuum wiper was babbled on to me that I should please refill water and empty the dirty water tank. This problem has been solved with the new tanks of the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro. The dirty water tank is 0.7 liters and the clean water tank is 0.8 liters. Definitely enough for a larger apartment with several rooms or floors. Before, it was already over after the living room. From experience I would estimate 160 to 180 m² for the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro. For larger areas, you simply refill quickly. It’s only over when the battery is empty, although that’s not really a problem with up to 35 minutes (in auto mode if the floor isn’t dirty). At least I’m through with three stories in time.
Tineco Floor One S5 Pro – wipe, self-cleaning and display
The cleaning process is quickly described. Pour the water and cleaning agent of your choice into the tank of the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro and start wiping. Both liquid and dry dirt are removed. The brush is automatically moistened, leaving only a very thin film of water when wiping. This means that the soil dries relatively quickly. This is very different from the classic Vileda wipers, because here, of course, the vacuum also dries immediately. There is also a pure suction mode, especially for very wet floors, where the brush is not moistened in order to be able to suck up water. This is very practical in the kitchen or in the bathroom.
The Tineco Floor One S5 Pro is relatively quiet in operation. I would not speak of up to 78 dB(A) as whisper-quiet, but rather as not disturbing. Especially if you’re traveling in auto mode, for example. Of course, only the max mode is really clean. But it is usually not necessary.
This is once again due to the iLoop Smart Sensor of the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro, which we have already encountered with the Tineco Pure One S12 vacuum cleaner and the Tineco Moda One hair dryer. This analyzes the dirt with a high sampling rate and adjusts its own performance or mode accordingly. As a rule, you never have to actively change the mode. Where the display lights up red (dirt), you should clean more thoroughly. If the display is blue (clean), a simple swipe is sufficient. The sensor detects wet dirt, dry dirt, dust and debris. It is nice that the LCD display always shows the current status well with pictures, color elements and really good animations.
Once you have finished cleaning, you simply have to place the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro in the cleaning station. If the brush is dirty, the squeegee will actively complain and ask you to activate the self-cleaning mode. Here the brush rotates within the station and washes itself. This works so well that the brush looks like new afterwards. For this I used coffee, watercolors and greasy dirt. Nothing remains of that. In most cases no discoloration either. In addition, the brush is only slightly damp afterwards because it spins itself dry.
Tineco Floor One S5 Pro – app
Of course, the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro also comes with an app. Here you can control all your Tineco smart devices. Also the hair dryer. However, you can only set basic things a little less than with the hair dryer. You can adjust the volume or turn off voice commands completely, change the language, update the firmware and also set appointments. You can also get activity reports and notifications here if something goes wrong. The app doesn’t need to be able to do more.
Tineco Floor One S5 Pro – price and availability
The Tineco Floor One S5 Pro is already available and costs €599 RRP, although it can occasionally be found cheaper with discounts. At the end of last year, when I was at Metro, the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro and the predecessor felt like it was in every shopping cart and it was practically torn off the shelves. Accordingly, the Tineco devices are now very popular in Germany, despite their premium prices. Actually sold out until March.
In terms of price, I find the Tineco Floor One S5 Pro to be in the higher range. Already 50-100 euros cheaper and it would be extremely competitive compared to other alternatives that are getting closer and closer. The Dreame H11 and the Roborock Dyad have an RRP of 399 euros, for example. But I think that the next offer is not far away.
