TikTok comes with AR lenses similar to those of Facebook and Snapchat

TikTok is in the process of creating its own Augmented Reality lenses. With these lenses you can add digital elements to your photo. Think of effects like turning your face into a super cute fluffy pussy, or adding crazy beards, glasses and/or hats to your face. A digital element is therefore added to reality, in your photo. With these lenses, TikTok takes over an important function of Snapchat and Facebook, among others.

TikTok Effect Studio

TikTok is working on an AR toolset with which they want to offer different AR experiences. That reports TechCrunch. At the moment, as a developer, you can register yourself on TikTok’s new Effect House website, where you can then create, process and/or edit your own effects. These AR effects should then be made suitable for the TikTok app and then become available to all TikTok users. The effects created in the TikTok Effect Studio should be made specifically for TikTok, they are not intended to work with third-party apps.

New TikTok Experience

According to TikTok, the AR effects should allow the creators of TikTok videos to come up with and create new creative ideas. A TikTok spokesperson further said: “We are always thinking of new ways to add value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience, and we are currently experimenting with ways to give creators additional tools to turn their creative ideas into reality. It is not yet known exactly when the AR effects from the TikTok Effect Studio will actually be available in the TikTok app. We will keep an eye on it for you.
