Three “new” Vortex aircraft are heading to Ace Combat

Bandai Namco is relentless in its care for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown from 2019. Although the series celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, it continues to commemorate this milestone and the authors are supplying players with new DLCs. Another package focuses on aircraft and was named Cutting-edge Aircraft Series. It will be released this year and will offer three new machines, special skins and emblems for the older ones.

Virtual pilots can look forward to boarding the cockpit of the F / A-18F Super Hornet Block III, F-2A Super Kai and MiG-35D Super Fulcrum. But to be completely fair, it is not quite a novelty in the true sense of the word, but a modification of existing aircraft. In the game you would now find the F / A-18F Super Hornet and the Japanese F-2A derived from the F-16. And the MiG-35D is, of course, another evolutionary stage of the famous MiG-29.

Ace Combat 8 will power Unreal Engine 5

The new DLC will be released in the fall, but unfortunately we do not know its price. Given the content and previous extensions, it’s almost certain it won’t be free. We also learned that the entire series already has 20 million games sold. It started in 1995 with the game Air Combat. Its authors revealed some time ago that based on the success of the regular seventh volume, they set to work on the Ace Combat 8.

The new game will be created in collaboration with the Japanese studio ILCA, which participated in the previous game, and will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 technology from Epic Games, said Bandai Namco in August. The expansion to other platforms has definitely paid off after the exclusive Ace Combat Infinity for PS3 and Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation for Xbox 360. Although Ace Combat: Assault Horizon from 2011 was also multiplatform, it again deviated from the established saga for a change and was not even set in the same fictional world of Strangereal, which has been the hallmark of Ace Combat since the beginning.
