This way you can watch offline Netflix series on your Chromebook

Chromebooks do almost everything online, which is why they have a reputation for, well, doing everything online. However, that is not entirely true. Did you know that you can watch Netflix series offline on your Chromebook, for example? Very handy, because there are various Chromebooks that can open completely and are placed in a V-shape. Ideal for watching Netflix, but you can also do that offline. That’s how you handle it.

Not everything is available

If you have a Netflix subscription, you will initially also need an internet connection to download the content for later offline playback. Not all content is always available to watch offline, but in fact all Netflix Originals are downloadable and eventually a lot of other content as well. It also depends on the country where you are what you can download (but that also has to do with the content that differs per country).

Watch Netflix offline on your Chromebook

If you would like to watch Netflix offline, proceed as follows (via XDA):

1. Download the Netflix app for ChromeOS from Google’s Play Store.
2. Log in to your Netflix account as you normally do
3. Click the menu in the sidebar labeled “Available for offline viewing” or “Available for download” and click it
4. The library with series and films that you can download can be seen and you can click the download button next to the series and films (or even specifically the episodes or seasons) that you want to watch offline
5. You will then find the downloaded content under ‘My Downloads’.

Actually very easy

It seems complicated, because the Chromebook does so much online, but it actually works exactly the same as on Netflix’s smartphone app. Don’t forget to empty your download list from time to time, because especially if you share your account with others, other people may not be able to download content to watch offline because too much has already been downloaded on different devices.
