This new camera feature of the Pixel 6a is also coming to the Pixel 6 (Pro)

The Pixel 6a has a new camera feature called ‘Camouflage’. It is part of Magic Eraser and will soon be made available by Google for the Google Pixel 6 (Pro). The new function ensures that disturbing objects are camouflaged. How exactly does it work?

Magic Eraser

You may be familiar with the Magic Eraser feature. Our editor Sebastien already wrote a few things about it in his review of the Google Pixel 6 Pro. He also made a video about the position, which you can find below.

Magic Eraser is an exclusive feature for the Google Pixel 6 and for the Pixel 6 Pro. The feature uses artificial intelligence to recognize annoying people or objects in the background of a photo and then gives you the option to remove them. This can be useful, for example, if you have taken a nice photo of the statue of Michiel de Ruyter in beautiful Vlissingen, but afterwards you see that there is an annoying tourist in the photo. With Magic Eraser you can take this tourist away and Google will then fill this void for you. You can read more about the magical function of Google in the article below.

New feature within Magic Eraser

A new function is now available within Magic Eraser. Google calls it “Camouflage.” You can also remove unwanted people with this feature, but this is done in a slightly different way. With Camouflage, as the name suggests, a person or object is not removed but camouflaged. In this case, for example, the shade and color of this unwanted person and/or object is changed. For example, the people are blurred and become a less noticeable color than the background color of the photo. This makes them less visible and less noticeable.

The Camouflage function can now be found in the Google Pixel 6a, but Google promises that the function will also come to the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. All this is possible because of the Tensor chip that the devices have. You can read more about this in this article.
