This is what people searched for on Google during and after Verstappen victory
The Dutch naturally wanted to understand as much as possible about Max Verstappen’s magnificent victory during and after the race. What yielded the most results about F1 and Verstappen if you ask Google?
Nothing connects a country like the Netherlands more than sports victories. Yesterday we put all our problems aside to hopefully enjoy Max Verstappen taking the F1 title for the first time. As you probably learned, it worked. Euphoria everywhere.
There are people who follow every race closely, but there are also plenty of people who have seen the F1 race in Abu Dhabi for the first time. When you hear Olav Mol about undercuts, DRS and Safety Cars, you probably think he speaks Chinese. Fortunately, you can easily search on Google and you will understand it immediately. The wonderful world of technology.
Google shares to Nu.nl the search terms that the Netherlands mainly used between 13:45 and 15:45, from start to finish of the race. The result may surprise you.
Verstappen girlfriend
The most searched term for Max Verstappen on Google is ‘Verstappen girlfriend’. The current love of the Dutch driver came into the picture several times because of course she was present, but who is it? For those still wondering: that is Kelly Piquet, daughter of ex-F1 driver Nelson Piquet and the ex of F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. The Brazilian confirmed early in 2021 that she and Verstappen are dating and has remained so ever since.
DRS
We already talked about DRS and, according to Google figures, that continues to be a frequently asked question in the race between Verstappen and Hamilton. We will also explain that quickly: Drag Reduction System is an electronically operated valve on the rear wing of the car that opens on certain straights when the gap to the vehicle in front is less than a second. This gives the rear car an advantage and so it can overtake. For example, if Verstappen has DRS, it means that the valve can open on the straight and he has an advantage over Hamilton.
Protest and last round
As you probably know, the last round went against everyone’s expectations. There is currently a frenzy going on around Mercedes and whether they are going to protest or not and that was also the question. So after the race and Verstappen’s win, the term ‘protest’ was searched a lot on Google. When the fuss calmed down, people wanted to experience the euphoria of the last round again and the term ‘last round’ was also widely used.
