This is the new free World of Warcraft game (trailer)
The first images of Warcraft Arclight Rumble are here, the free mobile game within the well-known fantasy universe.
Fans of World of Warcraft get a new spin-off with Warcraft Arclight Rumble. The free mobile game is set within the Warcraft universe, handling a genre that falls somewhere between competitive strategy and tower defence. It is not yet known when the game will be released. Players can pre-register for the beta.
Warcraft Arclight Rumble
In Arclight Rumble, players must place troops on the field to destroy the enemy, not entirely different from Clash Royale. Of course, this Warcraft spinoff has the advantage that it takes place in the well-known fantasy universe of Blizzard. So fans will encounter a lot of familiar monsters, creatures and characters.
The game can be played in different modes. There is a competitive mode where players play against each other. There are also single player missions and a co-op mode, presumably more for the casual player.
Players can join one of five factions: Alliance, Horde, Beast, Undead and Blackrock. Each faction has its own units, special abilities and playstyles. Blizzard also has the inclusion of guilds announced. As in the old days of World of Warcraft, players can thus form unofficial teams, adding an extra layer of rivalry and togetherness on a meta level.
What’s the catch?
Such free mobile games, on the other hand, are never really completely free. Players must earn gold in order to place new troops. You will soon be able to pay real money for new units or extra gold with absolute certainty.
How that balance is going to determine how much fans will be happy with this new Warcraft game. Knowing Blizzard (looking at Hearthstone for example) there is a somewhat reasonable balance in terms of money and added value in Warcraft Arclight Rumble. But you never know!
