In Google Maps you can easily start navigation to your home and work address, which works with the push of a button. At least if you set both data in the app. We explain how you do that and where you can change the data in Google Maps.

Google Maps addresses

Many people commute to work by car every day, and although they know the route including all alternative routes like the back of their hands, the traffic information provided by Google Maps is useful. Every day commuters press the Home and Work buttons to start navigation faster, because the correct addresses are preset.

Have you moved or do you have a new job? In that case, of course you want to edit those addresses. We explain how that works in the steps below:

• Open Google Maps and press the top right your Google account profile icon
• Choose Settings
• Tap on Edit home or work address
• Choose next to Home or Work the three dots
• Press Edit residential address or Edit work location
• Enter the new address and close with Finished

Save places yourself

When you look in the settings at the menu ‘Edit home or work address’ you will find another handy function: the possibility to save other places in the navigation app. For example, simply name a friend’s address ‘Mark’, so you don’t have to remember the full address anymore.

When you want to visit Mark, type ‘Mark’ in the search bar of Google Maps and you can immediately navigate to the address. To set that up, choose ‘Add a place’ under ‘Edit home or work address’. You only have to enter the address in question once and give the place a name.
