This is how smartphones should remain affordable
In these expensive times, consumers are saving everywhere. The new German thriftiness is not leaving Samsung untouched either. In an interview, the head of marketing has now revealed how Samsung wants to persuade customers to make new purchases – and keep prices stable overall.
Samsung wants around 1,800 euros for its new Galaxy Fold 4. A bundle of money that might serve better as a financial buffer for gas or electricity back payments in these uncertain times. Mario Winter also knows that times are getting tougher. However, the head of marketing at Samsung Germany has a plan to take countermeasures in the current precarious situation.
Samsung’s marketing chief: mobile operators should keep smartphone prices stable
The price increase would like the Samsung manager with a number of measures brake. These include, for example Contractual transactions, trade-in campaigns or financing, which saves buyers from having to pay the full price at once. (Source: Basic Thinking). With the Galaxy Fold 4 mentioned above, Samsung is granting an exchange premium of 200 euros for the purchase price of the old smartphone. In Germany, Samsung has set itself a big goal with its folding cell phones.
Furthermore the price increase will also be intercepted by investments by mobile phone providers“which means that the customer usually doesn’t notice any difference,” says Winter.
In addition to factors such as brand and quality, which must be right, it is also important for Samsung to give customers the opportunity to to try out and experience devices. Buyers should be told where the advantages of the products lie.

Why Samsung is not entering into a camera partnership with smartphones
Samsung refrains from advertising-heavy camera partnerships, as many competitors have, for example with Leica, Zeiss or Hasselblad. Samsung’s marketing chief sees no disadvantage in this. For customers, only the results count and Samsung offers a top level with its smartphone cameras. In addition, Samsung does not need to make its own brand better known with such a camera company – a subtle blow against the competitors, who seem to be different.
