Aerial is the best macOS screensaver app
Anyone who has an Apple TV knows how beautiful the screensavers Apple has created for it are. Drones have flown over all kinds of beautiful places on Earth: from the city of Los Angeles to a green valley, deep under water and even from space.
Unfortunately, these videos aren’t part of macOS, but that’s where the Aerial app comes in. This app has downloaded all tvOS screensavers from the Apple TV and makes them available for your Mac and MacBook.
The app simply adds these images to the range of available screensavers and so set them in the same way as you normally do. After installing Aerial, go through the following steps:
Download, install and set up Aerial
- Download Aerial (link) and double click on the app;
- Follow the instructions on the screen to install the app;
- Click on the Apple icon in the menu bar and go to ‘System Preferences…’;
- Click on ‘Desktop and Screen Saver’ and on ‘Screen Saver’;
- Scroll down and click on ‘Aerial’;
- Click on ‘Screen security options’ for more settings.
Now that you have installed the Apple TV screensavers on your Mac, when you have installed Aerial, the icon will appear in the menu bar. If you prefer not to have more icons in the bar, you can remove it in the following way.
- Tap the Aerial icon in the menu bar;
- In the menu, choose the option ‘Launch > In the background (no menu)’.
The app is still installed, but you will no longer see the icon. To completely remove the app, delete Aerial from your Apps folder.
