This e-book reader costs 599 euros – but has a trick up its sleeve

With the Viva, the manufacturer Pocketbook has just presented a very special e-book reader, which, however, also has its price. A new type of color display with a high pixel density is included for the first time. Audio book fans will also get their money’s worth.
Pocketbook Viva: e-book reader with a new color display
E-book readers with a color display are not a world first, but the manufacturer Pocketbook has come up with something special for the latest model. The Viva owns one special display called E-Ink Gallery 3. According to the manufacturer, each individual pixel can display the full color spectrum. Just like with black and white images, the display should ensure that a high pixel density of 300 dots per inch is possible.
The screen diagonal of the Pocketbook Viva comes to 8 inches with a remarkable Resolution of 1,920 x 1,440 pixels. The Comfortgaze front light technology is said to reduce the blue light component of the display by up to 60 percent (source: t3n). The color temperature of the display light can be adjusted depending on the displayed content. Conventional e-books should be just as easy to read as comics, for example.
Important for fans of audio books: External headphones or speakers can be connected via Bluetooth. A text-to-speech function is also available so that digital books can be read to you. According to Pocketbook, we can expect “natural sounding voices”.
There are a few things to keep in mind when buying an e-reader:
