iOS 17 will be released this year
Last week, Apple officially announced WWDC 2023. From June 5 through June 9, developers and students (with a ticket) are welcome at the Apple Park in Cupertino, California. The expectation is that Apple will not only announce new hardware products, but also present the first software updates for almost all devices. One of those software updates is of course iOS 17.

While it first seemed that iOS 17 would not be a major update, a number of much-requested features now seem to be coming to the update. The lock screen will probably get some new features again and iOS 17 will reportedly get interactive widgets. But the main question is: which iPhones and iPads will get support for iOS 17 and iPadOS 17?
The new iOS update is coming to these iPhones
Earlier today it appeared that apps such as the App Store and iMessage do not have eternal life on old iPhones and iPads. Starting next month, these Apple apps will no longer be available on all devices. The same applies to OS updates: not all devices have support for the new iOS 17.
This year it is expected to end for the iPhone 8 and older, these devices will not receive an iOS 17 update. Last year, the iPhone 7 was no longer updated to iOS 16, so a logical next step is now the iPhone 8 (Plus). The iPhone X, like the iPhone 8, was launched in 2017 and runs on the A11 Bionic chip. As a result, it is quite possible that the iPhone X will no longer receive iOS 17 support.
Curious which iPhones can run on iOS 17? Here are all the iPhones likely to get the iOS 17 update:
iPadOS 17 is coming to these iPads
There will also be no support for iPadOS 17 for a number of iPads. It is not expected that the fifth generation iPad will receive a new update. The first generation iPad Pro (both the 9.7-inch and the 12.9-inch version) also has to do without iPadOS 17. The new update will come to these iPads:

The new iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 update can therefore still be installed on a considerable number of devices. The first beta version of iOS will probably appear again in June this year, with the final release in September. Are you curious what features are coming to your iPhone with iOS 17?
