These Huawei devices will get a new operating system
Tomorrow, June 2, we should see the official introduction of the new operating system HarmonyOS and with it the new devices that will get it. In addition to them, some older equipment of the company will also see it Huawei the portal GSMArena published their list.
With the introduction of the new system, we will also see the introduction of a new tablet and watch
The main reason for the release of its own operating system for Huawei is the effort to separate from Google. Due to US sanctions, US companies are unable to supply US technology to this Chinese manufacturer, and of course this applies to Google as well. Although Huawei can use the AOSP version of Android, its devices are not Google certified, so neither Google applications, including the Google Play store.
The new HarmonyOS operating system will be designed for smartphones, tablets and also wearable electronics. The tablet is to be introduced at the official unveiling of the system Huawei MatePad Pro 2 and the Huawei Watch 3 smart watch. Both devices should have HarmonyOS pre-installed at the factory. However, Huawei wants to get the new system to 300 million devices by the end of the year, so it will start distributing it to older models as well.
These devices will be updated on HarmonyOS
Shortly after the introduction of HarmonyOS, updates to the new system should see last year’s premium models Huawei Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ a Mate 40 Pro RS. In addition, the update should be available for mid-range smartphones Huawei Nova 8 a 8 Pro, folding smartphone Huawei Mate X2 a tablet Huawei MatePad Pro. According to the portal HuaweiCentral should also arrive on the watch Huawei Watch GT2, GT2e a GT2 Pro.
It is likely that Huawei will leave users the option to stay on the current Android 10 with EMUI 11. There is also ongoing debate as to whether HarmonyOS will actually be a new system or just a modified version of Android. However, it will certainly be very similar in terms of graphics to the EMUI 11 superstructure, as evidenced by the following comparison video.
