The design of the new iPhone SE 2022 has remained the same as the design of the iPhone SE 2020, which had the same design as the iPhone 8. That means that the smartphone – albeit with a completely different interior – has been on the market since 2017 . So there is already a huge range of cases for the iPhone SE 2022. We have listed our favorites for you in this article.
1. Otterbox Symmetry
Otterbox is known for its robust cases. Does your phone ever tumble down the stairs? Do you occasionally knock that poor little device off the table? With an Otterbox case, there is a good chance that your smartphone will survive. By the way, we don’t want to encourage you to throw your brand new iPhone SE 2022 – but an accident is in a small corner.
In addition to good protection, Otterbox also focuses on the looks† In our view, the brand’s cases offer a good balance between sturdiness and style. The Otterbox Symmetry in particular is available in a variety of colors. From transparent to purple with glitter; the offer is great.
In most cases you pay about 20 euros for an Otterbox Symmetry. As far as we’re concerned, that’s easy to handle – and you can also use the case for a very long time. The good protection is also worth something. Important to know: the transparent version has TPU bumpers, which can turn a little yellow over time.
2. Apple Silicone Case
Apple has been releasing its own iPhone silicone cases for years now. Because Apple developed them itself, the cases fit well and fit your iPhone perfectly in terms of design. The cases are sleek and simplistic. The silicone material also feels very nice. It is non-slip and soft at the same time, which gives you a lot of grip on your iPhone.
In terms of protection, the silicone cases from Apple are slightly less reliable than, for example, a case from Otterbox. The material does offer protection, but that is not always enough to prevent cracks after a hard fall.
One drawback to Apple cases is that they are quite pricey. However, this is where the ‘old’ design of the iPhone SE 2022 comes in handy. Apple’s official iPhone 8 and iPhone SE 2020 cases are heavily discounted on all kinds of websites. So be quick!
3. Spigen Ultra Hybrid
Spigen is a well-known name in Caseland. The manufacturer makes covers for dozens of different phones, including the iPhone SE, of course. The Ultra Hybrid is transparent, so you can still see the beautiful design and color of your smartphone. There is also a black version and variants with colored bumpers.
Just like the Otterbox Symmetry, the case is known for a good balance between sturdiness and style. Handy for the rugged types among us who love a beautiful design.
The Spigen Ultra Hybrid is very affordable at around 20 euros. Because the transparent back is made of hard plastic, it hardly turns yellow. That’s nice, because a yellowed case is of course not so beautiful.
4. Pela Case
We urgently need to combat climate change, so that we can keep the future Earth a little nicer. Fortunately, there are also case manufacturers that do their part. There is the Pela brand, which makes compostable iPhone cases. And yes: these cases are also available for the iPhone SE 2022.
The Pela Case is made of a material consisting of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw. This makes it biodegradable. The cover will therefore never become part of the plastic soup. You have to bury the case in the earth for this when you are no longer using it. That may feel unnatural, but it is very important: don’t throw it in the trash!

Pela’s iPhone cases vary in price quite a bit, based on the design you choose. You generally pay about 40 euros. That may be a lot, but you are helping to protect the planet. In our view that is worth something.
iPhone SE 2022 is powerful, affordable iPhone
The iPhone SE 2022 is Apple’s new ‘budget’ iPhone. With a suggested retail price of 529 euros, it is not the ultimate cheap – but it is by a considerable margin the most affordable iPhone at the moment. The iPhone SE 2022 has a super-fast A15 chip, which we already know from the iPhone 13 series. The device also has 5G support.
