These 5 AirTag Features Are Still Missing
We had to wait a while, but at the beginning of this year it was announced quite suddenly. The AirTag is Apple’s first new product line in years. You use the tracker to find lost items. For example, you put it in your bag, after which you can find the signal from the sleuth via your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
This works very well, but the first AirTag does miss opportunities here and there. Therefore, we hope that Apple will bring the following features to the next AirTag. After all, a person can dream, right?
Do you know Apple Family Sharing? This makes it possible, for example, to share subscriptions to apps with your partner and/or children. This way you not only share the price, but you also keep an overview. Very handy of course, so why doesn’t this work on the AirTag?
The tracker is made for sharing. For example, you can hang it on your (house) keys, or on your dog’s leash. When your partner then starts driving your car and loses the keys, they cannot find the forest. After all, the AirTag is linked to you.

2. View History
Continuing with that, it would be helpful if you could view the Apple tracker’s log. This way you can take a look at the location history and see where the AirTag has been. Currently, the Find My app only allows you to see the current or last known location.
3. Prevention is better than cure
The AirTag is ideal for finding things, but less good at prevention. How cool would it be if the tracker warns you the moment you leave it behind? At that moment, he can, for example, send a notification to your iPhone that you are moving further and further away from your wallet or key ring.
Of course, such a function only works if it is well thought out. For example, he should only issue a notification when the AirTag owner has set it up, otherwise such an ‘alarm’ will only get on your nerves.
It would also be great if you could specify a certain distance. For example, the AirTag only issues a warning if you are more than ten or fifteen meters away.

4. New design
Apple will probably never do this, but it would of course be handy if the next AirTag had a hole so that you can hang it more easily on your key ring.
Now you have to buy a separate holder for this, which is just as expensive in the Apple way as the tracker itself. For Apple, this is not so much a ‘defect’, but rather a smart revenue model.
However, it would be much more convenient if you could get started without a holder. Speaking of which, it would be nice if Apple started making multiple types of AirTags. If we look at competitor Tile, you can, for example, buy a tracker from them with a sticker on the back, so that it sticks to your remote control.

5. Everyone has the right to privacy
Apple is committed to privacy. The AirTag therefore has a ‘function’ to prevent stalking. The problem with that is that it only really benefits iPhone owners. When someone puts an AirTag in your bag, the tracker will sound an alarm within 8 and 24 hours by playing a sound. At least, if you have an iPhone.
Apple leaves the vast majority out in the cold. Android users who may be stalked will only receive this warning after three days. That is of course far too long when it comes to something as bad as stalking. As far as we’re concerned, the Android app for the AirTag can’t come soon enough.
