The end of the year is traditionally a period of balancing. In addition to announcing the best games for the past 12 months, you can also come across the rankings of the least successful. One of them was compiled by Metacritic, which collects reviews not only from players, but also reviews from around the world from selected media. It was the average score from the press that decided the 10 worst games in 2020.

You won’t even find the real failures in the rankings

But at the beginning it is necessary to point out a few important little things. These games do not automatically deserve contempt because they were created in various circumstances that the list does not reflect. Those really unsuccessful titles are often not even received reviews or there are not enough of them to be included in the rankings at all. It is necessary to realize that even the pieces that take worse marks from the reviews of the big media have already passed through some kind of intra-editorial network, which completely excludes absolute failures from the content. As many developers often point out, every game that can be completed and marketed in working order is a success.

Metacritic, for example, excluded all games from the rankings, the average rating of which is based on less than 7 reviews. According to Metacritic, Tiny Racer for Switch became the absolute worst game. You may not even know this game, but that doesn’t mean there is a shortage of more famous names. Unfortunately, the remake of the XIII comic action or the racing game Fast & Furious Crossroads according to the famous film series also “worked out” into the rankings.

Remothered: Broken Porcelain also fell short of expectations. The Elder Scrolls: Blades port for Switch also got into the ten least successful games. I would like to emphasize once again that this is a ranking based on the average score from reviews, not from users. The list included titles released from January 1 to December 15. Should one multiplatform game be selected more than once due to low marks on other platforms, only one worst rated version has always been selected in the leaderboard.

On the other hand, Persona 5 Royal, The Last of Us Part II, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, Hades, Half-Life: Alyx, Ori and the Will of the Wisps are the best games based on averages from Metacritic reviews. , remake of Demon’s Souls, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Crusader Kings III or F1 2020.
