The wearable electronics market grew by 9.9% in the third quarter
Global deliveries of wearable equipment increased during the third quarter of 2021 (3Q21) by 9,9 %, which corresponds to 138.4 million pieces. The data comes from International Data Corporation (IDC).
Smart watches in Q3 2021 outperformed smart bracelets for the first time
Bluetooth headphones have the largest share in the growth. This category increased by up to 26.5% compared to the same period last year and represented 64.7% of deliveries of wearable equipment. Wearable wrist devices also have a share, which is a category associated with health and fitness monitoring, which accounted for 34.7% of the market.
Demand in this segment is slowly shifting from smart bracelets to smart watches, as consumers want more and more equipped devices and price differences are narrowing. The number of smart watches sold for less than $ 100 now equals the smart bracelets that once dominated this price range. The smart watch market thus grew by 4.3%.
Successes of the best-selling manufacturers in Q3 2021
- Apple was the most successful manufacturer in Q3 2021, despite a 35.3% drop in Apple Watch shipments during the quarter. The AirPods and Beats headphones helped him with this. In addition, the American company gained more than 53% revenue share in this market.
