The update fixes a touch screen bug
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was one of the biggest surprises among smartphones last year. This smartphone is a combination of the parameters of a flagship without compromise and a reasonable price. But even in his case, some production bugs appeared and one of them is solved by the latest software update. According to the portal SamMobile this is a problem with the stability of the touch screen.
The January security patch is also part of the update
While the classic Galaxy S20 model came with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that also uses the flexible Galaxy Z Fold 2, the Galaxy 20 FE uses a standard 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display. Its resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz are more than enough parameters for the average user, but the technology used is of the older type. There is also a toughened glass and a touch layer of the older type. However, this should not be the cause of a problem with the stability of the touch response of the display and is only a weaker software optimization.
This problem should have been solved by the last update, but Samsung also lists it in the latest change list. The software update is marked with G81BXXU1BUA5 and a size of 263 MB. It is currently available in Europe in the form of an OTA update for models with 5G network support, but it should also appear later for the 4G version. The January security patch for Android is also included in the update. He is in the version Android 11 with the latest superstructure One UI 3.0, which is nothing new for the owners of the Galaxy S20 FE, because they received it at the end of December.
How is the competition?
Samsung also competes with the updates. Before the end of the year, the Taiwanese manufacturer Asus surprised with an update with Android 11 for the Asus Zenfone 6 model from 2019. OnePlus updated the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro models. They received the OxygenOS 11 built on the Android 11 system. Huawei again brought the EMUI 11 superstructure to the Huawei P40, P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro models. Sony recently started updating its smartphones. This year’s Sony Xperia 1 II was the first to arrive.
