The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 will be waterproof

Smartphone manufacturers are slowly embarking on the production of folding smartphones. Samsung is also strong in this new segment. The South Korean giant will soon introduce a new generation of folding smartphones, namely the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Fold3 models, which according to the latest information will be waterproof. The Sammobile portal informs about the news.

It has been confirmed that both devices will be IPx8 certified, which guarantees them the same water protection as Samsung’s flagships. However, the company’s other premium smartphones are IP68 certified, which also guarantees protection against dust. This means that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 will not be dust resistant.

What else do we know about the upcoming folding smartphones

The news will most likely be presented at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which will take place on August 11th. For now, let’s summarize what we know about leaks from the new folding smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3

The biggest change compared to its predecessor will be the revolutionary selfie camera under the display. The arrival of this technology in the world of smartphones has been talked about for a long time and for the first time we could see it in the ZTE Axon 20 5G smartphone. However, his selfie camera was far from usable due to the quality. It will therefore be interesting to see how Samsung handles the new product.

The rear cameras will also get a new design. The device will have three sensors – 12 MP main, 12 MP ultra-wide angle and 12 MP telephoto, which will be stored under each other.

In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold3 reportedly offers a 7.5 ″ AMOLED folding display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a second 6.2 ″ display and a 4,275 mAh battery. Some leaks claim that the novelty will be powered by a special processor, others that it will be the old well-known Snapdragon 888 or Exynos 2100. These will be supplemented by 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

The leaked renders indicate that the Galaxy Z Flip3 will have a two-tone design. Even more durable, Samsung has reportedly improved the hinge’s durability. He also registered a trademark called Armor Frame, the description of which does not reveal much, but it is speculated that it will mark a frame made of carbon or titanium.

There should be a 3 ″ display on the outside of the device and a 6.7 ″ folding display inside. Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip, this is a step forward, as it had the same size as the main display, but its second display had a resolution of only 1.1 ″. The leaks also speak of 3,300 mAh batteries, Snapdragon 888 chipsets, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB and 256 GB of storage.

Folding smartphones competition

Huawei also started to produce folding smartphones on a large scale. Its latest folding smartphone Huawei Mate X2 offers a design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold model, 8 ″ OLED folding display, Kirin 9000 5G processor, 8 GB RAM, 4 rear cameras and 4500 mAh battery.

The Galaxy Z Flip model competes with the design of the Motorola Razr 5G smartphone, which boasts a 6.2 ″ folding display, 48 MP main camera or 8 GB of RAM. Compared to Samsung, however, it lags behind in performance and battery life. It is powered by an upper-middle-class Snapdragon 765G 5G processor and a 2800 mAh battery.
