The iPhone 14 Max would be the late model compared to the others
This week, Nikkei reported that one of the iPhone 14s was behind the three models in development. Today, analyst Jeff Pu affirms that the model in question is the iPhone 14 Max.
Delay for the iPhone 14 Max?
Apple is preparing four variants for this year: 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. It would therefore be the iPhone 14 Max, which will be a novelty in the range knowing that such a model does not exist today, which would be three weeks behind in development.
It is not specified exactly why this particular model is lagging behind the others. But in an attempt to limit the breakage, Apple has asked its suppliers to step up the pace in terms of development and also intends to start production earlier than planned. This choice is explained by the confinements in China which are still relevant and have a direct impact at Apple since its phones are assembled on site.
It is Pegatron and not Foxconn which would be the main group to produce the iPhone 14 Max. Currently, Pegatron is operating at a slower pace due to lockdowns. Foxconn, on the other hand, manages to cope relatively normally.
This iPhone 14 Max (just like the standard model) should look like the iPhone 13. The visual changes with in particular the removal of the notch to have a pill and a hole instead will only concern the Pro models. What’s more, the two non-Pro iPhones would be entitled to the A15 chip (the same as that of the iPhone 13) and not the new A16 chip.
