The government is ready to support NFT actors with public money
The French government is ready to support the development of NFTs in France, by investing public money in them, announced Jean-Noël Barrot, the Minister Delegate for the Digital Transition, on the sidelines of the inauguration of a dedicated Parisian gallery. to these virtual objects.
The government is interested in NFTs
“With global players in culture, video games and the luxury industry, France has everything it needs to become a European and global NFT platform. We need to accompany this movement with the support of public money,” he said, without giving further details on the amount. The minister’s office told AFP that this support would take place as part of the France 2030 investment plan, launched last year by Emmanuel Macron.
Jean-Noël Barrot also stressed the need to “build a regulatory framework for NFTs, objects that have not yet been identified, particularly in terms of legal certainty”.
He was speaking at the NFT Factory, a new place dedicated to these digital objects in the center of Paris, where exhibitions and training sessions will notably be hosted. “We are at the beginning of a revolution. In 10 years, NFTs will be an integral part of our lives,” for his part anticipated John Karp, the president of the NFT Factory.
As a reminder, the NFT is a non-fungible token, that is to say non-substitutable and therefore unique. Concretely, it is a theoretically unfalsifiable digital certificate of authenticity, registered in a blockchain, just like cryptocurrencies. These objects, which have invaded the worlds of art and sport for example, have hit the headlines, some of them being exchanged for sums of tens of millions of dollars.
According to a study carried out by the consulting firm KPMG for the Association for the Development of Digital Assets (Adan), some 2% of French people have already invested in NFTs.
