The founder and CEO of Matelso uses these apps

In the “Homescreen!” series we present the homescreens of people from the social media, marketing, media and tech world – including app recommendations and tips for everything from to-do lists to small games in between. Today: Frank Froux, Founder and CEO of Matelso.

As an industrial engineer, entrepreneur and founder and CEO of a successful MarTech company, I believe in the positive power of data. And the fact that digitization enables companies and people to make better decisions and to reach their goals faster and more efficiently – both in a professional and private context.

Accordingly, I have structured my smartphone home screen according to three main themes: business, mobility and home and hobby.

Business: Google is my foundation

In my company, everything revolves around reducing complexity and mapping communication (especially direct conversations) on one platform – whether in our internal processes or in our product, the Matelso Platform. In the company, the Google cosmos offers us an ideal basis for this.

That’s why I quite prominent gmail (for Android) anchored on the start screen, with which I not only send and read e-mails, but also handle all interactions conveniently and directly via the chat and video call function.

And right next to it you will find it Google calendar (for Android) that I use to organize my entire working day – efficiency at the touch of a button. I’ve also been a member of EO – Entrepreneur Organization since 2017: a global peer-2-peer network with more than 16,500 members in over 60 countries – all established and extremely successful entrepreneurs.

Here I find the opportunity to exchange ideas very closely and trustingly with personalities such as Richard Branson or Dharmesh Shah from HubSpot – not only on professional and entrepreneurial, but also on topics such as society, politics and personal growth.

News and dates in your pocket

The goal is: The members support each other to get better and develop further at all levels. Via the community app EO events (for Android) I also have the opportunity to find out about once-in-a-lifetime events and to register (for example: Formula 1 driver for a day) or to take part in international learning events such as the EO University.

I always have all the news, dates and hot topics with me in my trouser pocket. For me, of course, everything related to the development of our software company, which has almost 40 employees, also belongs to the topic of business – including the new construction of our future HQ in Kaiserslautern, where up to 90 team members will work.

So, just for fun, I built a shortcut to the construction site live cam and integrated it on my home screen so that I was always up to date on the construction site.

Mobility: Fast and safe – always and everywhere

Staying true to the Google ecosystem, I use for all navigation Google Maps (for Android). Here I not only always find the fastest and clearest way to my destination, but also the nearest gas station or a good restaurant – always up-to-date and accurate.

But if I’m traveling locally and need a fast vehicle to get from A to B in Kaiserslautern, I use the scooter provider more often ANIMAL (for Android) return. This is not only quick, convenient and cheap, the fun factor is also very important here.

For me, the topic of mobile payment also belongs in this category: With the wallet app, I always have my credit cards with me on my smartphone – both business and private. Those are two more items that you don’t have to physically lug around, and the wallet gets a whole lot thinner.

Home and hobby: Digitize what’s possible!

As I said, as the owner of a MarTech company, I’m into software and digitization! Accordingly, I have set up virtually everything in my private environment that can be controlled digitally in any way.

Starting with my hobby, golf, I fully rely on the app PC caddy (for Android) to reserve tee time or coaching sessions at my club or to keep me up to date on ongoing tournaments or golf news. For me personally, however, voice memos are also extremely important – but not in the way you would think now.

I use the app to ground myself in my family and always have a nice memory of my two-and-a-half-year-old son with me: hearing his voice gives me strength in everyday life and always puts a smile on my face. And at home, too, I’m getting closer and closer to the ideal of the “smart” home.

With the @Home for Homematic application, I put together my own use cases for my house – for example, one command is: When we are at home, the patio door is open and the solar radiation exceeds 25,000 lux, the awning automatically opens.

With the lawn sprinkler against burglars

I also programmed my lawn sprinkler just to annoy potential burglars (or cats). If we’re not at home, the water jets switch on when the motion sensor in the garden is activated. Other applications that I use at home for automation.

Landroid (for Android) for the Worx robot lawn mower and a number of apps that contribute to the topic of entertainment. These include about Spotify (for Android) and sonos (for Android), which I use to control my playlists and the home sound system in all rooms. And yes, I not only use Spotify on the go, I also have the app integrated directly into Sonos at home.

The Sonos app benefits me in another way. I have also integrated an intercom via the application and can therefore easily transmit announcements to all rooms throughout the house from my cell phone. Often to the annoyance of my family.

Anything that can be digitized will be digitized

But I’m also enthusiastic about the good old radio with its varied range of music and news. I’m getting over this medium TuneIn (for Android) straight to your smartphone. And because I often experience new songs or songs from the old days here, but can’t remember their names, I have Shazam on the home screen.

My TV consumption is also digitized. With Zatoo TV (for Android) I’ve been in the IP field since 2016 – on my cell phone and also at home on the Smart TV. I haven’t had a normal analogue connection for years.

But I don’t need it either! Digital applications offer me everything I need – and much more. I will remain true to my motto in the future: Anything that can be digitized will be digitized.
