The forgotten phone: Siemens CF62 from 2004

Siemens released several phones a few years ago; large and small models, with a striking design and this Siemens CF62 was one of them. We discuss this device in this 250th edition of ‘The Forgotten Phone’.

Siemens CF62

In this edition of ‘The forgotten telephone’ we go back to the year 2004, when the Siemens CF62 appeared in that year. And to top it all off, this is already the 250th edition of our ‘Forgotten’ section. It was one of the many Siemens devices that appeared in those years. The phone featured a clamshell design, which reminds me very much of the Nokia 6131, with a metal-looking bezel around the external display. The arch that protruded is reminiscent of a Sony Ericsson. However, Siemens was earlier with the CF62.

The Siemens CF62 was a lightweight aircraft; it weighed only 85 grams. On the sides, the device was equipped with lights that could light up with new messages or notifications. On the outside, the device was equipped with a monochrome screen that could light up blue. Here you could read the time. The main screen appeared when the device was opened. This was a screen size of 1.65 inches and had a display of 65,000 colors.

When opened, you had a nice keyboard at your disposal with which you could type your messages. Above it was the navigation key with which you could go in different directions. The phone was equipped with a 600 mAh battery and was optionally also available with a camera. You had to attach this camera via the connection on the bottom. We saw this with several Siemens devices at the time.

Siemens released the Siemens CF62 in the Netherlands for an amount between 150 and 200 euros. A Czech made the video below of the device. Unfortunately, I no longer had the charger to turn on the device.

Siemens CF62 summarized in 3 points:

  • Clamshell with hip design
  • Notification lighting
  • Optional camera
