The forgotten phone: Nokia 6220 from 2003

In this edition of ‘The forgotten phone’ we go back to the year 2003. The Nokia 6220 was released almost twenty years ago; a phone about which not much can be found. All attention is focused on the Classic, but what can be said about this device?

Today we have the ‘real classic’, dusted off; the Nokia 6220 from 2003. This phone was a truly recognizable Nokia, with a design that instantly revealed you were dealing with a Nokia. This means a screen, with the well-known key layout with the navigation key, shortcuts to certain actions and buttons that narrow towards the bottom.

The Nokia 6220 had a 1.5 inch color display, albeit with a low color count. Nokia supplied the device with a limited memory for which there was room for only a few messages and notes. The rest of the options and possibilities were also quite limited. However, the phone was still equipped with infrared and a camera. This camera offered a resolution of 352 x 288 pixels, or CIF. High quality photos were therefore not made with this. Filming was not possible with this.

The device of the Finns offered GPRS and EDGE and even had a WAP 2.0 xHTML browser on board. Nokia provided the Nokia 6220 with an FM radio and with that the list of possibilities was complete. The device appeared in gray, silver and gold.
