The first 5G smartphone with a hardware QWERTY keyboard

Smartphones with a hardware keyboard have practically disappeared from the market in recent years. Perhaps the last such smartphone is new Astro Slide 5Gwhich is according to the portal GizmoChina at the same time the first 5G smartphone with a hardware QWERTY keyboard.

The keyboard has large and comfortable keys

According to the portal, it is the manufacturer of a smartphone XDA-developers British company Planet Computers, which raised money for him in the crowdfunding campaign of the portal Indiegogo. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it will not be launched until June this year. According to the official pictures, the smartphone is a classic sliding slider. What will surely be pleased are the large buttons on the backlit keyboard with high lift and support for up to 24 language interfaces. Unfortunately, Slovak is missing, but at least Czech is among the languages. Disappointing can be a body weight of 300 grams.

The parameters of the smartphone do not burn, but it offers several operating systems

The AMOLED display of the smartphone has a diagonal of 6.53 inches and a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The performance is taken care of by the eight-core MediaTek Dimensity 800 chipset with the Mali-G57 MC4 graphics core. Originally, however, the smartphones were supposed to have the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset. The LPDDR4x RAM has a size of 8 GB and a decent 128 GB of internal memory. In addition, you can expand it with microSD cards. Nowadays, it’s certainly surprising that the rear camera has only one 48-megapixel sensor from Sony. For selfie photography, there is a 13-megapixel camera on the front.

From the connectivity, mention should be made of support for 5G, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, FM radio, GPS, GLONASS, or 3.5 mm headphone jack. What is definitely unconventional are up to two USB-C ports on both sides of the device. The battery was originally supposed to have 4000 mAh, but only 3500 mAh is listed in the final specifications. The manufacturer defends this by lowering the consumption of a weaker chipset. In addition to the Android system, the novelty should also use SailfishOS and various Linux distributions. The price of the Astro Slide 5G in the Indiegogo campaign was set at 530 euros.
