Going to the cinema for CODA in France

According to The French MoviePathé will take care of the distribution of CODA in French cinemas. The company was able to obtain a temporary visa from the National Cinema Center (CNC), authorizing it to broadcast for 48 hours. More than 120 cinemas are partners and will therefore broadcast the film, which is intended to be an American remake of the French film The Aries Family. The broadcast will take place on April 23 and 24. And don’t worry: the film is still available for streaming on Apple TV+.

The temporary visa allows a maximum of 500 sessions. In the case of the Apple TV+ film, there will be just under 300 sessions in total. Some cinemas will show the film only once, others will have a few showings. Also, subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing will be available, given the nature of the film.

CODA won three Oscars: Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur and above all Best Film. The feature film has also won other awards over the months. The film revolves around a young woman named Ruby, the only hearing member of a deaf family. Using sign language, Ruby serves as an interpreter for her parents while working for the family’s struggling fishing boat business. After joining her high school choir club, Ruby finds herself torn between family obligations and pursuing her dreams.
