The father of PlayStation does not see the point in VR and metaverse -apkrig
Japanese engineer Ken Kutaragi designed the sound processor for the SNES, but later became famous mainly as the father of the PlayStation and a long-standing senior Sony official. After leaving Sony in 2007, he founded and runs Cyber AI Entertainment and has been working for Tokyo-based Ascent Robotics since last year. Apparently, he is still in close contact with modern technologies and trends, although not necessarily games. However, this does not mean that he supports every novelty that appears on the horizon.
Virtual reality, not only from Sony, probably leaves him cold. In an interview with Bloomberg, the 71-year-old Kutaragi made it clear that he preferred reality and that VR and metaversum left him indifferent. “Being in the real world is very important, but metaversum is about creating quasi-realities in the virtual world. And I don’t see any point in that, “he said. “Would you rather be a polished avatar than your real self?” asks Kutaragi a rhetorical question.
Headsets? Annoying
“Headsets isolate you from the real world, and I can’t agree with that. They are just annoying, ”Kutaragi thinks, taking no napkins in her assessment. While he may seem to have taken on two different modern things, the truth is that the two are relatively close to each other, and no doubt companies like Facebook (Meta Platforms) will try to connect them.
We can only try to guess whether under his leadership the PlayStation would bet on virtual reality, but it doesn’t look like that. The next generation of the VR headset from Sony is on the way.
