The European country recommends getting rid of Xiaomi smartphones
The Ministry of Defense in Lithuania has advised its residents to avoid buying mobile phones from Chinese manufacturers, especially Xiaomi. These devices may allegedly have censorship built into them. The topic was addressed by the Reuters portal.
Xiaomi may have a problem. The reason is censorship
The flagship models sold in Europe by Chinese giant Xiaomi have a built-in function to detect and censor expressions such as “free Tibet”, “long live Taiwan independence” or “democratic movement.” A few days ago, the Cyber Security Authority in Lithuania informed about it. Although the option is turned off in the Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G software for Europe, the manufacturer can turn it on remotely at any time, according to a report by the National Center for Cyber Security of the Ministry of Defense.

Xiaomi has not yet commented on the situation. We will mention that relations between Lithuania and China have been deteriorating recently.
