The Apple Watch Series 6 is entitled to a repair program for the screen
Apple ends the week by announcing a new repair program for the Apple Watch Series 6 and the blank screen problem. According to the manufacturer, this only concerns the model with a 40 mm dial and not the 44 mm one.
A repair program for the Apple Watch Series 6
Apple says it has found that a “very small percentage” Apple Watch Series 6 have a screen that can go permanently blank. The affected devices were manufactured between April and September 2021. If your watch exhibited this issue, you can use Apple’s serial number checker tool at this page to determine if your device is eligible for this program. If so, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will repair it free of charge.
The service procedure is similar to other repair programs. You can book an appointment at an Apple Store, find an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support to arrange a mail-in repair.
If your Apple Watch has damage that prevents repair, that issue will need to be repaired first. In some cases, you may be charged for the repair, warns Apple.
This new repair program is available worldwide. It does not extend your Apple Watch’s standard warranty coverage. Also, the program covers eligible Apple Watch Series 6 for two years after the first retail sale of the product.
