The Apple TV 4K (2022) is more compact and significantly lighter
Apple has announced the new Apple TV 4K (2022) which features the A15 chip and HDR10+ support. It turns out that this model is more compact than the previous one and also much lighter.
Technical characteristics show that the new Apple TV 4K is 31mm tall, compared to 35mm for the previous model. Above all, the weight has been halved, going from 425 grams to 208 grams (214 grams for the model with the Ethernet port). How to explain such a regime? By removing the fan.
In its press release announcing the new case, Apple states:
The increased energy efficiency of the A15 Bionic chip frees the Apple TV 4K from an internal fan, giving it a more compact design and reducing its carbon footprint by 25% compared to the previous generation.
It is already possible to order the new Apple TV 4K. The price is €169 for the Wi-Fi model with 64 GB of storage or €189 for the Wi-Fi + Ethernet model with 128 GB of storage. The first deliveries will be made on November 4.
Note that the Siri remote control now has a USB-C port and no longer a Lightning port for charging. On the other hand, Apple does not include a USB-C cable in the box, it will be up to you to obtain it separately. With the old model, we had a Lightning to USB cable present in the box.
