Motorola Edge 30 Neo
In our Motorola Edge 30 Neo review, we were already enthusiastic about the new smartphone from Motorola’s Edge series. It is not for nothing that the device also won our DroidApp Awards 2022. You have extensive options at your disposal. There is a 6.28 inch OLED screen (120Hz), 8GB RAM and a dual camera with 64MP main lens and a 13MP wide-angle lens. There is a Snapdragon 695 processor and 4020 mAh battery. This battery lasts a long time and you can charge it at lightning speed with 68W. Useful; around the camera module on the back is a luminous border that lights up with new notifications. There are also handy Motorola tools such as shaking the device to activate the flash. The phone will receive two Android updates and three years of security updates. The package is very complete; a case is also included.
You can purchase the Motorola Edge 30 Neo from Coolblue, Bol.com, Belsimpel, Mobiel and MediaMarkt.

Samsung Galaxy A53
Of course, Samsung also has a range in this price range. And in the form of the Samsung Galaxy A53. We have looked at the phone from all sides in the Samsung Galaxy A53 review. The camera scores high and is equipped with four lenses with a 64MP main lens. There is a 5000 mAh battery, a 6.5-inch OLED screen and at least 6GB of RAM. This device is also fully equipped. The update policy is very good with four Android updates (Android 13, 14, 15 and 16) and five years of security updates. Keep in mind that a charger is not included, but if you have a USB-C cable and an adapter, you will come a long way.
You can buy the Samsung Galaxy A53 from Samsung itself, Belsimpel, Mobiel, Coolblue, Bol.com, Amazon and MediaMarkt. You can also contact the providers; Ben, Hollandsnieuwe, Simyo, KPN, T-Mobile, Tele2 and Vodafone.

In addition, the phone has a triple camera with 50MP main lens. You can charge the 4500 mAh battery at lightning speed with 80W. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset. In terms of Android updates, things could be a bit better. It gets two (Android 13 and 14) and three years of security updates. The device itself is very well received, but a case is recommended because of the smooth back.
You can buy the OnePlus Nord 2T from OnePlus, Coolblue, Belsimpel and Mobiel.

Pixel 6a
The Google Pixel 6a is officially available in the Netherlands. At the time of writing, it is even 100 euros cheaper than normal. For a decent price you have a very good smartphone, with a good quality camera and decent performance. There’s a 6.1-inch screen, though it doesn’t have a high refresh rate like the rest of the list. There are two 12 megapixel lenses and you have a 4306 mAh battery. It offers the pure Android experience because Google offers it without further fuss. The device now runs on Android 13. The phone is updated up to and including Android 15. There are five years of security updates in total.
Are you going for the Pixel 6a? You can find it at Belsimpel and T-Mobile or Mobiel.
Nothing Phone 1
Nothing’s first smartphone, the Nothing Phone 1, immediately hit the proverbial bull’s-eye. After all, the first impression was good, as we wrote in our Nothing Phone 1 review. The smartphone stands out because of the transparent back with lighting. This can light up with new notifications. In addition, there is a 50MP dual camera and a 6.55 inch OLED screen (90Hz). The phone will get three years of Android updates and four years of security updates, but Android 13 is still not available.
You can go to Amazon and Belsimpel for the Nothing Phone 1.

Poco X4 Pro
A manufacturer you only hear from once in a while; Poco. The manufacturer has the Poco X4 Pro in its range, with neat specifications. There is a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen (120Hz) and you can choose from 128GB or 256GB of storage space. Poco gives the Poco X4 Pro a triple camera with a 108-megapixel main camera, which performs neatly but not particularly. The 67W fast charger to charge the 5000 mAh battery is included with the device. Poco is very vague about the update policy, it is unknown whether an Android update will be rolled out after Android 13.
The Poco X4 Pro is available at Bol.com, Belsimpel, Coolblue, Amazon, MediaMarkt and Mobile.

Which smartphone is the best?
If you want to make a choice for the best smartphone up to 400 euros, there is quite a bit to choose from. Do you think the camera is most important? Then we would put the Galaxy A53 and the Pixel 6a at the top. In terms of updates, these are also the best choices. In terms of personalization and ease of use, we’d put the Motorola Edge 30 Neo and the Pixel 6a at the top. Due to the lack of clarity about the update policy, we would advise the Poco X4 Pro less quickly. If you want to stand out with your phone, choose the Nothing Phone 1 or one of the sparkling colors of the Edge 30 Neo.
