The 5 most indispensable apps of 2021 according to Stefan

As you are used to from us, on DroidApp we share a nice overview with the 5 most indispensable applications according to the writers. Which Android applications were in Stefan’s list of most indispensable? You can read that in this article.

Essential apps according to Stefan

In this article Stefan lists which applications he has used the most this year, or rather; which were so useful that they have been indispensable in 2021. It was still difficult to select five of these, but this is the most important selection.

Duolingo

For a long time I have had the goal of learning the Swedish language. In January I started learning the Swedish language in Duolingo. An ideal, free language app that teaches you step by step. Because you are in a ranking and the goal is to learn every day and thus build a ‘streak’, I obediently learn my Swedish every day. After almost a year of daily use I notice that I have clearly learned a lot from it, although the grammar could be treated a little more.

Komoot

Komoot overviewThe Corona crisis made me decide to buy a new bike, earlier this year. Reason enough to make intensive use of it. This is possible with the Komoot app, the application that we discussed in detail earlier in the Komoot review. With Komoot I plan the route I want to take via the website or via the mobile app, add waypoints and immediately see the distance of the route. The duration can be adjusted, based on your own cycling speed. You can also navigate directly on the bike with Komoot and that works great. Recommended!

Google Maps

Google Maps Material YouI can’t live without Google Maps. Before I go to work (or go home) I check the current traffic. In addition, I used the Google Maps app a lot during a city trip to, for example, Stockholm. For public transport, for the walk through the city and of course to find the way to a certain place. Street View is very useful, as is consulting (offline) maps.

SplenDo

Splendo appI’m nowhere without a to-do app. For pretty much every day I filled the tasks app with tasks again. For this I have been using the app ‘SplenDo’ for years, a task app that can also sync your tasks with your Google account. At the start of your day you will receive a notification at a time of your choosing, containing all the tasks for that day. Ideal.

Polar steps

Polar steps 2.0I was in doubt, should I put Fuelio here, or Polarsteps. I have used them quite a few times this year. Fuelio for tracking fuel consumption, Polarsteps for my vacation. I choose Polarsteps anyway. This travel app from Dutch soil is simply part of the equipment that goes with you on holiday. Through Polarsteps I can keep an interactive diary with all events, photos, videos and text. A very nice app.

They’re not the only apps I’ve used frequently in the past year. For years I can’t live without SwiftKey for typing all the texts. Other frequently used apps are the ING Banking app, Flitsmeister, Instagram, Flamingo, the grocery app from supermarket Plus and I have also regularly opened Bitvavo on the smartphone in the past year.
