Like almost every month, April 2023 brings some important changes for workers and consumers. In addition, new laws apply.
For example, the last Corona rules are no longer applicable. In addition, the extended nuclear power plants are going off the grid. Meanwhile, Microsoft is increasing the prices for its cloud services – by a whopping eleven percent.
1. The 49 euro ticket is coming

2. Nuclear power plants go offline
The nuclear power plants “Emsland”, “Isar 2” and “Neckarwestheim 2” were originally scheduled to go offline at the end of 2022. Due to the energy crisis and the Ukraine war, however, operations were extended. From April 15, 2023, however, it should finally be over.
3. The last Corona rules fall
The nationwide corona measures will end on April 7, 2023. The rules contained therein, such as the obligation to wear masks on buses and trains and the obligation to isolate, have already been abolished. In April, the FFP2 mask requirement for visitors to care facilities and medical practices will no longer apply.

4. Microsoft is turning the price screw
Microsoft will increase the prices for its cloud services from April 1st. In the future, the company will charge eleven percent more for its Microsoft 365, Office 365, Dynamacis 365 and Microsoft Teams and Dezenten products.
Official information according to the price increase should not apply to current contracts. In addition, the company ties its prices to the US dollar exchange rate and wants to adjust them every six months. The new prices apply to new customers and contract extensions with immediate effect. Private customers are apparently not affected.
5. By law: more net salary with the same gross salary from April 2023
From April 1, 2023, the tax allowances for employees that have been in effect since January will be visible in the account. The reason: changed processes for wage tax deduction. All employers must take higher tax allowances into account.
The employee lump sum increases by 30 euros to 1,230 euros. The relief amount for single parents increases again from 4,008 to 4,260 euros. The bottom line is that many employees should therefore have more net left over from the gross.
